APPARATUS RESPONSE DURING TRANSITIONAL PERIOD
S.O.G. 201-07-01

I.  PURPOSE

To establish guidelines for fire department personnel when responding apparatus to alarms during the transition period from engine/ladder to quint operation.

II. SCOPE 

This guideline affects all fire department personnel who respond apparatus to emergency calls for Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company.  
              
III. RESPONSIBILITY 

All fire department personnel who respond apparatus to emergency calls have the responsibility to arrive in a safe manner.  Once on scene they have the responsibility to position the apparatus in accordance with commands request.

IV. BACKROUND 

It is imperative that all fire department personnel arrive safely to insure that the alarm assignment is fulfilled.  Many operations have been hampered by fire department personnel improper placement of vehicles. 

V. PROCEDURES 

1.  When responding to alarms all firefighters must exercise care.  Responding as a firefighter does not relieve the driver from the duty to drive with due regard to the safety of all persons. 

2.   The following is the fire apparatus and order of apparatus to respond to Fire related incidents unless otherwise specified by the Chief Officer:

A. Structure Fire:  Ladder 18, Tanker 18, Rescue 18
B.  Vehicle Fire:  Tanker 18, Rescue 18 
C.  Brush Fire: Brush 18-3, Tanker 18
D.  Unknown type Fire: Tanker 18, Rescue 18
E. Helicopter Landing Zone: Rescue 18 along with next due mutual aide Engine
F. Wires Down: Rescue 18, Tanker 18 standby
3. On all runs, Ambulance 18-9 is to respond if available

VI. SUPERSEDED GUIDELINE 

This is a new guideline on this subject and does not supersede any previous memo or guideline on this subject.
