in time of need
Clifford
Township Volunteer Company helped its neighbors at at Harford
Fire Company as they dealt with their loss of Junior Firefighter
Adam Sloat. Funeral services were held on Friday. Ladder 18 served
as part of the "arch" in honor of Firefighter Sloat. The Rescue remained
in service available to both the Harford and Clifford first due area. A

MVA assignment was transmitted on SR2014 for a one car crash. On the assignment
R-18, E-18, 18-9 and an ALS truck. Chief 18-2 (O'Rourke) marked on
scene reporting a one car crash with the vehicle over the embankement,
on its side with one confirmed pin and heavy odors of gasoline. |

Companies from a three county
area responded to a fire that tore through a three story brick structure
shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday in the City of Carbondale. Within twenty
minutes a partial collapse of the massive building brought in the
roof of the massive building that housed a restaurant and a tavern and
formerly was home to a liquor store. |

Station
18 was given a first alarm assignment for a MVA, passenger vehicle vs.
school bus, at the intersection of Rt247 and SR2027. On the assignment
– R-18, E-18, 18-9, (1) ALS truck from Lackawanna County. |
| Chief
18 (T.Turner) signed enroute and requested the next four BLS trucks to
be placed on standby. While enroute Chief 18 was advised by Susquehanna
Communications the following update: a school bus with approximately 30
children with possibly no injuries and a passenger vehicle with at least
one occupant entrapped. Chief 18 requested an engine company from
area 24 along with 24-9 to the scene. EMA 1 (J. Lynch) arrived on scene
and confirmed the reports of patient count and status.
Chief
18 and Chief 18-1(W.Turner) arrived on scene with 18-1 taking command and
Chief 18 handling rescue operations of the passenger vehicle. R-18
was assigned a full heavy rescue deployment upon arrival for the passenger
vehicle.

E-24,
which carries an HRT compliment, was assigned an HRT deployment to the
opposite side of the passenger car and to stretch a hand line to protect
the scene.

EMA 1
coordinated EMS operations aboard the bus. Three additional BLS trucks
were dispatched on the assignment with a total of three patients being
transported. Crews cleared at approximately 1800hrs. No rescuer
injuries were reported. An excellent show of teamwork once again
– great job to all involved! |
